Baldy opened this morning, but closed before 10am because of wind and reported avalanche danger. Temperature at the parking lot was 30 at 10am, and the snow was wet. I heard it was drier up top. Several small land slides and many idiots were blocking traffic in both directions. Plows were doing what they could...

Sierra Summit is located at Huntington Lake in the Central Sierra about 50 miles East of Fresno off Rt. 168. Real fun mountain, great family atmosphere and inexpensive lodge (with cozy apres bar) located at the base. As the crow flies it is about 20 miles southwest of Mammoth Mtn, which means it gets plenty of snow.
