Braved the road conditions this weekend with the fiance. We left at 4 am from San Diego...all roads were closed except the backside (18 through Lucerne Valley). Had lots of trouble getting up the mountain because too many people foolishly thought they didn't need chains. End result= up the hill, when the road gets narrow with sharp turns, they slide out and make us all wait. After FINALLY getting passed all the rookie snow drivers we were on the hill by 9. I could find fresh tracks basically all day. Typically I prefer more difficult places like Baldy and last year for the first time, Waterman. Not the biggest fan of Snow Summit usually, but it was well worth it this weekend. My hats off to the crew up there too...they did really well with such a big dump. So Cal isn't quite used to all the snow.
