I can't fully rate the place since the black runs were closed. I'm an advanced
skier but a bit rusty, so it was an excellent trip to warm up and get some
good carving practice in. Absolutely no one else there (on a Thursday), so I
had the slopes to myself and could even look back at my path while on the
chair and critique my marks. Early on, the snow was a bit wet and heavy (about
3" on heavy new powder) but in the afternoon it softened a bit and turned into
some very nice stuff. The weather sort of stunk (very foggy with slightl sleet
off and on). Overall, however, I like Sunrise; the intermediate runs I was on
are a little too easy, but the blacks look (from the top anyway) quite
challenging. If you want to get in lots of runs and have plenty of elbow room
(the trees are also nicely wide open for some fun tree-bashing), this is a
great place. Also, if you are a beginner or need to practice, the main runs
are excellent (lots of space, some good steeps, wide open trees). The
employees were all very nice too.
