This is the first time I've been to Mt.High this year. I thought I would pop
up for a quick weekday of local skiing. I visited the East Mountian only. It
was very crowded for a Friday, it fett like a weekend. The snow was quite
hardpacked considering the recent new snow. By afternoon there were many icy
patches exposed where the new snow was scraped away. Many boarders have yet to
learn to carve, they just scrape their boards sideways down the hill. Since
the quad chair was moved, the lift line organization has deterioated. Lines
are random and long on the gold rush side (West run) but much shorter on the
left side (Eastern run) Sorry I don't remember the names of the specific runs.
I tore up my bases on the center run due to so many exposed rocks. This run
should have been closed, or at least posted as to the hazards. Mountain High
has a long way to go in lift line management and trail posting. Although Snow
Summitt is a much longer drive, It has much better crowd management and
mountain maintenence.
