trap for parking

There was no sign, no announcement, no one told "people who didnt purchase an adventure ticket who will get trafic ticket or towed" on the street. We were first time visiter, and all parking area were packed. There was no sign, no ticket, where to call... employees worked at there didn't even know the information, no help at all.People who purchased ticket are able to park there on streets means there's no need to towed our car to 80 miles away from ski resport, and charge $550 for tow and $180 for broken taxi which got all the lights as an engine, brake,ABS lights. can you imagine you lost vehicle at middle of mountain, cold, and dark. all the poeple who got towed are first visiters. NO SIGN, NO ANNOUNCEMENT for this BS,They will lose business. at least they did for 11 people.

National Forests Adventure Pass Required for Off-Road Parking

What does this blog have to do with judging Mt. High as a resort? Cars are towed from mountain roads (especially during winter) for a good reason--safety. In most cases a permit is required to park in areas off of mountain roads and highways so that their owners can be identified if they do not return to remove their cars within a reasonable amount of time, e.g. hikers and snow play families. The most common permit required is the Adventure Pass issued by the National Parks/Forest Service. See info:

"The Forest Service Adventure Pass is a recreation use pass for visitors using the Southern California National Forests (Angeles, Cleveland, Los Padres and San Bernardino.) It is required to be displayed on vehicles parked on these Forests while visitors are participating in recreation activities (picnicking, skiing, hiking, snow-play, hunting, fishing etc.)
The pass is $5 per day or $30 per year.
You don’t need a Pass while parked at places where a site fee is already charged (such as ski resorts or fee campgrounds.) You also don’t need a Pass when you are traveling through the Forest but not stopping."
These permits can be purchased at Ranger Stations, Visitor Centers and other Forest Service offices. Also, sometimes local stores/country marts near the area sell them.
Know before you go. "Adventure Pass Required For Snow-Play" signs are posted everywhere along the roads. Fines nowadays are brutal.

I dont think you are

I dont think you are understanding what is happening at Mt. High. I am a season pass holder there, I am a hiker, and an ATV rider so I am aware about the safety pass and about safety in recreational areas.

What seems to be happening is that they are selling too many tickets, more than their parking areas can handle. Large amounts of people are heading up there and none of them are turned away so they park anywhere they can, pay for a lift ticket, and end up with ticket violations or towed cars. So many people are violating laws and safety rules that others follow. I understand its wrong but Mt. High needs to take responsibility and either accommodate customers with proper parking, turn away customers by posting signs the bottom of the mountain, and announce it on their website.

Allowing over crowding in parking lots and on the runs "sucks" for everyone. Not only am I a season pass holder but my friends who are also season pass holders are disappointed in Mt. High for allowing this to happen. People go up there to have a good time not to pay violations, tows, or deal with over crowding.

Re: Mt. High Parking

I do understand what is happening at Mt. High. The purpose of these blogs is to provide info for people. So, what we know now is that if you don't get to Mt. High early enough to park in one of their lots, you can purchase a daily Parks Adventure Pass for $5.00 and park on the side of the road where it is legal. Know before you go and you won't have such a hassle. I agree that Mt. High should work with the NFS and the community; and they should have info regarding this parking problem on their website.

ahh

thats terrible
