Baldy was slow to open this morning, but worth the wait. Lots of nice fresh stuff up there today. Drier in the morning, wetter late in the day. Most of the accessible terrain got cut up pretty early, but there were sweet spots to be had if you're not afraid to work a bit. We found long chutes of virgin snow late into the day. I don't think chair 4 ever opened. If it does tomorrow, it will be worth the trip. It was 28 degrees and snowing when I left the parking lot at 4PM on tuesday.

FYI, from the top of chair 3 to the parking lot at Baldy is 2100 vertical ft of beautiful terrain -- when it's covered. Today it was. For comparison, the gondola at Mammoth services 2144 vert ft.

Baldy or Mtn High?

Did Baldy last Tuesday and it was great. The blogs say that today and yesterday they had some weather and parking issues - and avalanche concerns. Love to go there but not if I can't get there, can't park, and they close it! I hate Mountain High - that is - I hate the brats that run you down and don't even apologize but if they're are only choice Wednesday...Darn
