The entire slope above the chair 1 liftline & ticket office avalanched while
everyone was waiting for the mtn to get things open. Spectacular, we were all
scared and started to run when it appeared the ticket office might get hit.
The debris field ended about 15 feet from the parking lot.
Skied several runs on chair 1 until Thunder Mtn opened about 12:30 or so.
Tough visibility but very few people so excellent turns, until you get down
into the bottem of the canyon. We were very wet at that point so dried up a
little in the lodge before hitting Thunder Mtn.
I decided to post this after reading the previous guy's unlucky choice. The
visibility on Thunder Mtn got excellent right at 2:30 pm on the day I was
there. Every open run was awesome (if you're good in heavy powder). Modern
wide skis make all the difference. Even the ridge right above chair 2 liftline
(usually rocky) was good. Amazingly my run back to the car at the end of the
day was still fresh tracks.
